Route Details

We will try to have the snowmobiles delivered Wednesday evening to us in Big Bay. This should allow us to get an earlier start than usual on Thursday morning. We will also try to get all of the helmet headsets installed Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, we will eat breakfast, get our gear on, and try to get on the trail by 10:00 am.
We will travel West through Houghton, then north to Copper Harbor. We should arrive in Copper Harbor by 7:00pm.
We will spend the night at the Mariner North Resort in Copper Harbor. There is a restaurant and bar at the Mariner North. There is also a suana & hot tub at the nearby Harbor Lights for a fee.
We will try to get on the trail by 10:00 on Friday. We will travel East back to Big Bay. Friday night, we will stay at the Thunder Bay Inn in Big Bay.

The total trip will be about 360 miles so it's basically two full days of riding (we get our money's worth from the rental sleds!). You'll see some beautiful scenery and get a dose of Yooper (residents of Michigan's Upper Penninsula) culture.

We typically ride in a couple of groups (slower and faster). Each group can communicate using helmet headsets as they ride.

We bring new riders on the trip almost every year so you don't need previous experience, but you do need a good attitude and an adventurous spirit.

The trails can be smooth and enjoyable, but they can also be rough and miserable at times. We have chosen the time of year, the route, and the days of the week to improve our odds of having excellent trails, but weather conditions still play a big factor. It's best to be physically prepared for any conditions. It's definitely an endurance event, but it's also a lot of fun!
